Tight budget? Thrifty One pre-loved clothing market may help
The Thrifty One pop-up market, located at 6 Meyer Street, has its second sale of the year on Tuesday, 21 March 2023, from 09:00 to 15:00.
The market, the first of its kind in Potchefstroom, was started by Marietjie Verster in October 2022 to reuse and repurpose clothing items that are still in a good condition.
Thrifting is ideal for students who have a limited clothing budget, according to Verster.
She believes the market has clothing items for everyone. If you are unsure of what to buy, Verster, who has a knack to match clothing items with clients, is ready to help.
She asks: “How often when you buy fast fashion do you actually find a clothing piece that you fall in love with?”
According to her one of the best parts of the market is to watch as clients find items that appear to have been made for them.
If you have any clothing which you would like to be sold at the Thrifty One market – Verster accepts clothes that are in a good condition, meaning that the pieces cannot have any stains and should not be worn or washed out.
Upon selling an item, Verster takes 30% of the sales, and the sellers receive the rest of the money.
The market will have a variety of autumn and winter clothing pieces, shoes and handbags on offer.
