Live music returns to Potchefstroom

Due to more relaxed Covid-19 restrictions, North-West University students can once again experience live shows. One of these was a rocking performance by Spoegwolf and Glaskas at Snowflake on Friday 25 February.

“Since the pandemic, I feel like it’s really taken away from my student experience and to develop that bond and pride for your university,” said Micaela Breytenbach (20), a third-year pharmaceutical student at NWU.

“I think it’s a great opportunity to bring everyone together after the Covid restrictions, because it’s the first time in a long time that we can do something like this,” said Henri Kock (21), a third-year engineering student at NWU.

Although this event was not a first for either of the bands in Potchefstroom, the concert shook the building. It seemed as if the bands were just as happy and excited to be there as the crowd. Many musicians were affected negatively by the pandemic restrictions because they could not perform.

“It feels strange to be able to do so many shows again all of the sudden, but for me, it’s incredibly nice to share today with everyone in Potch because it feels a bit like a celebration, being able to have everyone together like this,” said Deon Meiring (33), lead singer of Glaskas.

During the Glaskas performance a surprise appearance was made by Bouwer Bosch (38), who then continued to perform with the band.
