Adam and Eve Collab opens its doors in Potchefstroom
Adam and Eve Collab, a collaborative business selling local clothing brands, plants, good coffee, and exclusive bagels, opened its doors in Potchefstroom on Tuesday, 1 March 2022. The opening of the store has been long-awaited and after numerous months of construction, Adam and Eve Potchefstroom is set to embrace its new location in Chief Albert Luthuli Drive, next to Music Café, with open arms.
Adam and Eve Collab is the brainchild of owner Danneel Stone (25), who came up with the concept during his student days at the University of Stellenbosch. It all started when he began selling the jackets from his closet to get money to attend a residence event. After this, he started buying and selling second-hand jackets in a mall parking lot.
Later, a local brand in Stellenbosch approached him, asking whether he could help them sell their products, quickly giving him the idea and concept behind Adam and Eve Collab.
“There are a lot of local online businesses driven by people who, apart from their online businesses have their own lives to run. They do not have the time nor means to set up shop. That’s what Adam and Eve is all about, being a collaboration between different brands and people,” Stone said. He described the brand as being “for people and from people.”
Sheldon Farmer (20), a second-year mechatronics engineering student at the North-West University (NWU), described his first visit to Adam and Eve Collab as a laid-back experience, combined with good food. “They serve very tasty bagels, and I think the aesthetics of the shop will be appealing to any student,” Farmer said.
Danéll Malan (19), a second-year student studying math and physics at the NWU, added that she thinks Adam and Eve Collab would become a very popular coffee bar for students, sipping on their hot (or cold) treat while browsing through the clothing items in store.
Stone shared some pearls of wisdom for young student entrepreneurs wanting to close their textbooks and grow their bank accounts. He said that “20% of the Adam and Eve Collab concept exists with the aim to motivate students to take initiative and trust in their ideas.” The most important thing, he noted, is that you need to be willing to take risks and “be all-in.” Unafraid of what the possible outcome might be. “We only have one life. If you don’t take the chances now, you’ll always wonder what could have been.”
Adam and Eve Collab currently stocks the following South African Brands: Pretty Casual, Old School, Mad Hatter Apparel, Palm the Brand, Veldskoen and Koi Koi Clothing.
